I downloaded xampp from here and ran through the usual install, I started MySQL from the xampp control panel – no problem – then I tried to start the apache server but it wouldn’t start. Solution: I had Skype installed and it was using port 80 – so I disconnted port 80 inside skype, then you have to make sure not skype processes are running. If you go back to the xampp control panel you shoud be able to start apache, to check click this to test http://localhost/index.html
1. open skype
2. tools –> options – advanced – connections – and until the port 80 option
3. goto task manager and end any skype processes
